Allusions to Myth by Ericka Koehler

When thinking about heroes on TV or in the movies, in my mind, I associate Spider-Man with a hero. I see him as a brave person who is able to fight with villains and do as much as he can helping others with his superpowers. For other people their hero might be, for example, Indiana Jones who is able to overcome any problem that arises in his path or Batman who was always defending Gotham City.

The Last movie about Spider-Man was Spider-Man: No Way Home, with actors Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch and actress-singer Zendaya. That is an example of the hero’s journey.

Here is the official teaser trailer:

In this movie, the real identity of the hero was revealed so in order to return to normal, and for the hero to be able to fight without difficulties, Dr Strange has to create a magic spell. In that spell, people lose their memory and no longer remember that Peter Parker is actually Spider-Man.

According to Campbell, for someone to be considered a hero, they must go through a number of steps that start from “Call to Action,” “Refusal of Call,” “Supernatural Aid,” and many more until they arrive to the “Return” step. In total, they are twelve steps. All the steps can be summarized and originally, they were three: Departure (Separation), Initiation, and Return of the hero. And those three are the point of all the steps. That is what applies to the last movie of Superman. It’s the general formula for the hero character. Others movies follow the same steps for their heroes.

To clarify what Campbell meant with his hero’s journey, here is a video. This explains, in an easy way, the hero’s journey for all media production (TV, films, etc.):
