When I think about gender roles, it’s incredible that there are still so many stereotypes until today. Even if we are in 2022, society considers that some tasks are exclusively for women or men, and if you don’t do them, you are not doing what your gender is supposed to do. I found a compilation of commercials from four years ago of cleaning ads, and in all of them, you can see women cleaning the floors. At the end, there is a male genius standing in front of a woman as if in a boss position, or superior. Women in the video look submissive and obedient. I wonder why all commercials usually show just women cleaning, washing or cooking and being submissive. It will be good if men appear doing the same work, since I don’t think they are tasks exclusively for women.

Then, I think myths portray women as they need to obey or be submissive to men.

I think there are two goddesses who represent these women. One would be the goddess, Penelope, who is faithful, and looks submissive too. And the other goodness that could be compared is Hera who is goddess for family. And, women are portrayed that they need to do many things if they want their family to be well.

In the video, the women are portrayed like the cleaning depends exclusively on them.
